About Us
Cure Tanzania is a charity project founded by Patrick Sheehan, a student at the Lycée Français de New York. He initially got involved with the Maasai community of Northern Tanzania during the summer of 2009 while on a community service trip organized by Adventures Cross Country (ARCC). Before visiting the Serengeti National Park, he stayed at Meserani Snake Park, a camping ground and snake park located between the Serengeti and Arusha. While there, he learned that the Snake Park had established a medical clinic. Although crucial to the area, the clinic is far too small for the size of the community. Patrick felt that there was a need to help the people of the region obtain a better health facility. After numerous discussions with the Tanzanian Consulate in New York, the Allied African Nation Chamber of Commerce in New York, ARCC, Meserani Snake Park, and African Expedition in Nairobi, Kenya, he was able to launch Cure Tanzania.
