Seeking to provide better health care for the Maasai community of Northern Tanzania

Why should we help?

Illnesses, injuries, and infections are all common fatal conditions for the Maasai, a traditional tribe of Northern Tanzania and Kenya. The Meserani region of Tanzania, located in the heart of the Maasailand, is a beautiful area. But, like many other African regions, Meserani is home to numerous snake species, many of them carrying deadly venom. Additionally, diseases are not efficiently managed because of a lack of modern medicine.

Even though Meserani Snake Park founded a free-of-charge clinic, there is still insufficient medical facilities and supplies in the region. Too many Maasai die unnecessarily because they could not get urgent medical attention. Currently, the clinic has to care for about 1000 patients a month, which is far greater than the clinic’s capacity. The clinic has to treat all snake bite cases in the area. Even though the care provided by the clinic is life saving, too many Maasai are not able to have access to the facility. This is why the region needs our help in building a new, larger, better equipped medical clinic.
